Art therapy can be a powerful tool for transformation, healing and growth. It is a form of therapy that encourages and supports people to express feelings and experiences using basic art materials in a safe, supportive, therapeutic environment. Art-making can decrease stress and physical symptoms, help express and release difficult or overwhelming emotion, and can lead to greater self-knowledge.  It can also re- connect us with the sensory pleasure of using paints, pastels and clay. Art therapy offers a way for people to “tell the stories” in new creative ways, in the presence of a caring and supportive witness.  It can lead to new understandings and insights, transformation, and healing and growth.
